The milestone comes on the heels of the 2014 announcement, when the company delivered over one-third of all energy storage capacity installed in the US.
All five systems used the company’s GEMS4 software platform, which supports a wide range of applications including frequency regulation, distribution deferral and island micro-grid in such locations as California, Ohio and Puerto Rico.
The company offered the full array of design, integration, software and installation services for both utility and ‘behind-the-meter’ deployments.
Duke Energy Commercial Transmission senior vice president Phillip Grigsby said: "Energy storage is becoming increasingly important to help strengthen the reliability and flexibility of the grid and integrate more renewable power onto the system.
"We are pleased to have partnered with Greensmith to support our Ohio Beckjord project, an innovative storage solution that provides tangible benefits to the grid operator and local customers."
In 2015, the company had expanded its business operations with a new facility in Herndon, Virginia to accommodate growth and technology development.
