The project, which was completed on schedule, will supply its output to a multi-national IT park near Bangalore under a ten-year indexed power purchase agreement.
The project, which is the fourth wind farm the company commissioned in 2013, will feature ReGen-made Vensys V87 1.5MW gearless turbines, which will deliver a 28% capacity factor in an average year.
The Matrix project is co-located with the company’s Basvanbagewadi project and shares its existing 180MW grid connection, the company claims.
Greenko CEO Anil Chalamalasetty said the company’s strategy of building large wind farms in a phased manner, using the latest low wind speed turbine technology and connecting to the high voltage transmission grid, represents that they can deliver significant, predictable and profitable growth.
"Matrix is our fourth wind farm this financial year. We expect to commission a further five wind farms before the 2014 monsoon, which would give us over 600 MW for next year’s main generating season," Chalamalasetty added.
