The resort said that it will provide the charging service as a complimentary amenity to both resort guests and the general public, enabling EV owners living as far away as Chicago to make two way journey to the Grand Geneva without spending a penny on transportation costs.
The resort purchased one California-based Coulomb Technologies ChargePoint Networked Charging Station and will hold an official unveiling on April 20, 2010.Coulomb’s Midwest distributor Carbon Day Automotive has installed and will maintain the charging station.
For the unveiling, Grand Geneva has partnered with Tesla Motors, an automaker selling highway-capable EVs. Tesla Motors will feature its Roadster convertible model during the unveiling at Grand Geneva and will put up a demonstration of charging the vehicle using the ChargePoint charging station.
The company said that the project will also further Grand Geneva’s mission of reducing its carbon footprint.
