Model tests for the pump turbines to be used in Germany’s Goldisthal pumped storage plant have been completed successfully, Voith Hydro has announced.
Voith is supplying two fixed and two variable speed pump turbines for the Goldisthal plant. The pumps were tested over a two-week period in a programme organised by Voith and the customer, German utility VEAG. Guaranteed operating parameters were verified, and measurements were carried out for cavitation monitoring, pressure changes, guide vane torques and forces, and axial thrusts.
