The company said that ClimaCab is an all-electric auxiliary power unit (APU) climate control system for Class-8 trucks designed to provide air conditioning and heating during driver rest periods without idling the main truck engine.
The system reduces fuel costs and maintenance, eliminates noxious pollutants, and helps reduce costly jump starts, the company claimed.
ClimaCab utilizes its Power Management Module (PMM) to maximize battery charging, battery life, and system run time. The PMM matches the charging system to the battery’s factory-set profile, resulting in higher battery efficiency, longer duty cycles, and reduced operator costs, the company added.
Trojan’s OverDrive AGM 31 deep cycle is a sealed, absorbed glass mat (AGM) battery built specifically for idle-reduction technology in the heavy duty/commercial truck industry. Its high power density, cycling and deep discharge characteristics provide a steady current over extended periods of time when truck engines are turned off.
Elke Hirschman, vice president of marketing at Trojan Battery, said: ”The battery is a critical component of any electric APU, and the electrical demands of today’s APUs require a battery with true deep cycle design characteristics.
”The Trojan OverDrive AGM 31, the only battery available in the market with true cycling capabilities, is a perfect complement to ClimaCab. The ClimaCab and Trojan idle-reduction package allows customers to obtain the real benefits of their investment: a long-lasting, reliable anti-idling solution, better environment and increased profits.”
