Gevo has spent a year in it developing the necessary supply chain to provide bio-based isobutanol in Malaysia and is in the final stages of accomplishing the same.
Collaborating with ECERDC, BiotechCorp and the State Government of Terengganu, Malaysia will create a value chain that will allow Gevo provide bio-based isobutanol in this expanding market.
"We’re excited to follow the demand, especially since Southeast Asia is one of the fastest growing chemical markets, and Malaysia provides an excellent growth opportunity for Gevo," said Gevo president and chief operating officer Chris Ryan.
The collaborative agreement allows Gevo to construct a fermentation facility in the Biorefinery Complex located in the State of Terengganu, Malaysia.
Expected to be completed maximum by early 2016, the plant will produce bio isobutanol made from cellulosic biomass.
