Spanish electricity company Gesa-Endesa, the Balearic Islands unit of national power giant Endesa is planning to invest €3.9 million reducing carbon dioxide emissions this year.
The company aims to meet Kyoto Protocol targets and has signed an agreement with the Environmental Department of the Balearic Islands, located off the east coast of Spain, which will see CO2 emissions cut by 4,416 tonnes.
Meanwhile, Spanish construction company Acciona is planning to add 1 GW of new wind power in the US by 2012 with a planned investment of €1 billion. No specific projects have been identified so far by the group’s energy unit Acciona Energia.
