The Prairie Rose wind project will be constructed over an area of 25,000 acres in the Rock and Pipestone Counties, Minnesota.

The plant will be equipped with125 wind turbines and will be capable of generating energy which is sufficient to power 60,000 homes.

Xcel Energy has filed a contract with the Minnesota Public Utilities Commission seeking approval for the agreement.

Construction of the project is expected to begin by the end of 2011 and is slated for completion by the end of 2012.
