EEX information represents 80,147 MW of installed capacity, which is more than 50% of Germany’s overall installed capacity.
Firms that trade on the exchange include Germany’s four key power generators, Vattenfall Europe, RWE, E.ON and EnBW.
Other contributing firms include Stadtwerke Duisburg, Halle Trotha, Trianel, N-ERGIE of Nuremberg, Dresden utility Drewag, Cologne’s RheinEnergie, GKM of Mainz, Stadtwerke Leipzig (SWL), Germany’s EVO of Offenbach, the city of Bremen utility (swb) and VSE AG.
Overseas firms include GDF Suez Energie Deutschland, Energie AG Oberoesterreich (EAG), Verbund subsidiaries ATP and AHB, Verbund subsidiaries ATP and AHB, Salzburg AG, KELAG, TIWAG and EVN.
The information does not take into account unscheduled power failures, for which generators enable a reserve.
According to EEX, the operators’ planning for the one month ahead, indicate that capacity should increase by 9.8% to 64,582 MW on June 5, 2009 as against current capacity.
