With the $390,000 provided by the town, the $690,000 project will support the creation of 230 new jobs while leveraging $25 million in private investment, said US Congressman Dr. Paul Broun, who represents Georgia’s 10th district.
“The city of Braselton has proven to be a business-friendly community,” Broun said. “Now Braselton will be able to attract even more industry with this ARC grant and the expansion of its sewer infrastructure.”
Broun said that the wastewater system that will receive the facelift will serve the 275-acre Braselton Business Park, located a quarter-mile from Interstate 85 on Georgia Highway 124. With the Country Inn & Suites Hotel and Conference Center coming soon and a 450,000 square foot distribution center set to be available as well, the wastewater system upgrade was necessary, Broun said.
“The equipment (existing) has limited capacity and cannot accommodate any significant flow increases that would be generated by new development projects,” Broun said.
“The Appalachian Regional Commission has long partnered with the town of Braselton for infrastructure improvements for our citizens,” Mayor Pat Graham said. “We appreciate the partnership and the federal investment which will create new jobs and business opportunities here.”
