The Georgian government has approved a draft agreement to sell six hydroelectric power plants and several electricity distribution companies to Energo Pro of the Czech Republic.

According to the Interfax news agency, the overall value of the deal is US$427M, which will include investment in the construction of a new 100MW hydroelectric power plant in Georgia and the modernisation of generation and distribution facilities.

In June 2006, Energo Pro purchased eight out of nine energy facilities offered for sale in Georgia, including six hydroelectric power plants.
