Georgia’s Prime Minister, Zurab Nogaideli, says that Georgia will privatise six hydroelectric power plants in the west of the country this year.

The Interfax news agency has reported that, during this year, the government will complete the privatisation of Georgia’s energy sector, but the Inguri hydroelectric power plant and high voltage power lines will remain state-owned on account of their strategic importance.

Georgia’s Energy Minister, Nika Gilauri, said that the main aspects of the country’s energy policy this year include completion of reconstruction work on several hydroelectric power plants.
