Siemens and Van Oord are installing the wind farm’s 150 turbines and the project is anticipated to be completed in 2017.
After completion, the wind farm will provide sustainable energy for 785.000 households in the next decades.
Gemini CEO Matthias Haag said "Generating its first power is obviously a huge milestone in the project."

Two 110km cables relay power from the wind park to the shore, where electricity is distributed via the TenneT high voltage grid from Eemshaven.
The €2.8bn Gemini project is being developed by four partners: Canadian independent renewable energy company Northland Power, Siemens, Van Oord and Dutch firm HVC.
It is estimated that Gemini wind farm will produce 2.6 TWh of renewable electricity and reduce 1.25 million tons of CO2 emissions per year.
