A new, 300 MW hydropower plant to be located on the Bing Lang Jiang River in Baoshan City, Yunnan Province, China, is to use GE Energy technology.

The Su Jia He Kou hydro plant will feature three 105 MW high-head, vertical Francis hydro turbine-generators manufactured at GE’s facility in Hangzhou City, Zhejiang Province.

The turbines will feature new runner technology, designed for more stable and reliable operation over an extended period of time, providing increased income for the plant owner, Yunnan Baoshan Bing Lang Jiang, GE says.

Shipment of the equipment to the Su Jia He Kou project site is scheduled to begin in February 2008, with the first unit expected to enter commercial operation by June of 2009.

In addition to supplying the hydro turbines, GE will execute a model test on the units and will serve as technical advisors for the project.
