GE’s Power Conversion business has been selected to provide its variable-speed drive technology for use on Tehri Hydro Development Corporation’s (THDC) 1000MW pumped storage hydro power plant on the Bhagirathi River in the Indian state of Uttarakhand.

Alstom selected GE Power Conversion’s drive systems for use on all of the plant’s variable-speed motor/generator sets of the pump turbines to enable continuous control of the plant’s pump output.
