The wind farm will be built in Vojvodina region North East of the country and will be operated by Enlight Renewable Energy. For this order GE will supply 38 of its 2.75-120 turbines. These turbines have a hub height of 110m of hub height.
As per GE, its 2.75-120 turbines are suited for the medium wind conditions of the Serbian great plains. GE has also agreed to undertake full service for a period of 15 years. When operational in 2019, the wind farm is expected to become the third largest in the country.
GE onshore wind business president and CEO Pete McCabe said: "GE Renewable Energy is determined to help countries reach their renewable energy goals.
“The Blacksmith wind project represents one fifth of the country's wind capacity targets for 2020 and we are very excited to be part of it."
Turbines for the wind farm will be manufactured at GE’s European facility in Salzbergen, Germany and the blades will be manufactured by LM Wind Power, its recently acquired company, operating in Spain and Poland.
