The turbine, with a capacity of 114MW, will join eight other GE gas turbines purchased by Cikarang for previous projects, comprising six Frame 6B units and two 9Es.

According to GE, a Frame 9E gas turbine using natural gas can reduce NOx emissions by 35% and CO2 emissions by 30%, compared to the same unit operating on liquid fuel (distillate).

With more than 600 units shipped worldwide, the 9E turbine has accumulated more than 23 million hours of utility and industrial service.

The new unit for Cikarang is expected to begin commercial operation in March next year.
