GE has secured a contract from US based Southern Company to supply control valves and auxiliary systems for a 582MW integrated gasification combined-cycle (IGCC) power plant in Kemper County, Mississippi.

The company will provide Masoneilan, LincolnLog and SteamForm modulating steam control valves for the power plant, which is owned and operated by Southern Company’s subsidiary Mississippi Power.

According to GE, the order includes more than 50 separate turbine and process steam bypass valves, spray water control valves, pressure reducing valves and silencers.

The valve and auxiliary systems are expected to be delivered this year.

The power plant, which will employ a high-efficiency process that utilizes lignite coal to generate electricity, is expected to commence operations in 2014.
