A total of nine LM6000 gas turbines will be delivered by the company to Calik, which is constructing three power plants at Akhal, Mary and Lebap, as part of a 360MW fast-track project by early 2014.
Located near Turkmenistan capital Ashgabat, the Akhal plant will feature two LM6000-PF and one LM6000-PC units, whereas three LM6000-PC and three LM6000-PF turbines will be transferred to the Mary site and Lehab site respectively.
Calik Enerji CEO Saim Dinc said the company wanted to ensure that the customers continue to receive power in a timely manner as demand for power grows across the country.
”We feel that by using GE’s flexible, efficient, proven aeroderivative gas turbines for our new plants, we will be able to help meet those needs quickly and cost-effectively,” Dinc added.
GE Power & Water distributed power vice president and chief commercial officer Darryl Wilson said, ”The flexibility, fast-start capabilities and overall performance of our LM6000 units will help provide reliable on-site power for the region.”
The Akhal and Mary sites are expected to enter commercial service by the end of 2013, followed by Lebap in February 2014.
