The 2.5-MW wind turbines are designed to produce more electricity even at lower wind speed locations, the company said.
Three of the wind projects are being developed by Juwi and two have been initiated by Pfalzwerke. GE has framework agreements with both firms. The other three projects are owned by Abo-Wind and Max Bögl Wiesner.
GE will provide the first turbines to Juwi’s Rehborn wind farm in southern Germany.
The order also include a long-term full service agreements that enhances turbine operating performance and life by adding predictive condition monitoring services, unplanned maintenance coverage and advanced services.
Juwi CEO Matthias Willenbacher said, "GE’s 2.5-120 wind turbines are a good fit for Germany’s low-wind speed regions. We chose these in particular because of their good cost-performance ratio, and we expect high reliability based on the long history and experience with former GE turbine types."
