GE Energy has opened new manufacturing facilities in Shenyang in China’s northeast region developed to support two joint ventures: GE Liming Gas Turbine Component Co Ltd and GE Turbomachinery Technology Co Ltd.

The two ventures represent an investment of $32.6 million.

GE Liming is a $18.9 million joint venture between GE Energy and Shenyang Liming Aero-Engine Co Ltd, one of China’s primary manufacturers of aero-derivative gas turbines and jet engines. The joint venture manufactures combustion components, buckets and nozzles to contribute to the assembly of GE’s Frame 9FA and 9E gas turbines in China.

GE Turbomachinery, a $13.7 million is a joint venture formed between GE Energy and Shenyang Blower Works, a major state-owned enterprise in centrifugal compressors, blowers and gear manufacturing in China.

GE claims it is the first company to deliver a locally assembled gas turbine to the Chinese market.
