GE's is to supply four LM2500+G4 aeroderivative gas turbine generators to a new Brazilian floating oil and gas production platform.
GE’s Distributed Power business has announced it will supply four additional LM2500+G4 aeroderivative gas turbine generators (total installed capacity 85 MW) to a new Brazilian FPSO (floating oil and gas production, storage and offloading) vessel, the Cidade de Caraguatatuba MV-27, to be owned and operated by MODEC. The units will run on non-commercial grade "field gas" produced at the vessel.
GE’s Distributed Power has also announced that commissioning for three of its Jenbacher gas engines is expected to take place this month at Estre Ambiental’s landfill in Guatapara City, São Paulo, Brazil. Once the facility begins commercial operation in May, it will be the first waste-to-energy project at an Estre landfill, one of the largest municipal solid waste operations in Latin America. GE has provided three 1.4 MW J420 Jenbacher gas engines, with the potential to be expanded to 10 MW in the next five years.
These announcements come just a few days after GE launched its Distributed Power business in Latin America, on 8 April 2014, in Mexico City. The worldwide launch of the new business was in Jakarta in February.
