American Electric Power (AEP) has reportedly signed agreements with GE and Bechtel to estimate costs for the construction of a 600 MW clean coal technology power plant.

The Integrated Gasificaton Combined Cycle (IGCC) systems would be supplied by GE while Bechtel would build the plant, which could be completed as early as 2010. Project costs are estimated at around $1 billion for the facility which is likely to be sited on one of three sites in Ohio, West Virginia or Kentucky.
