The company has been supplying electricity to the Major League Baseball team since 2011, under a multi-year contract.

The Phillies are among the top purchasers of green power in Philadelphia and they were the first Major League Baseball team to join the Environmental Protection Agency’s Green Power Partnership Program, GDF said.

The Green Power Partnership Program encourages organizations across the world to minimize their environmental impact through procurement programs that support renewable energy sources.

Philadelphia Phillies marketing and advertising sales senior vice-president said: "Since beginning work with the Phillies in 2011, GDF Suez Energy Resources has exceeded our expectations.

"We’ve chosen to continue our relationship with them because they recognize our business drivers and unique consumption patterns. They also understand our business goals and objectives, which is clearly a win-win for any organization."

GDF Suez serves over 60,000 accounts for customers having a peak demand ranging from 50KW to more than 200MW, with an estimated peak load totaling nearly 10,000MW.

The company offers electricity service to residential and small business customers under the brand Think Energy.
