GDF SUEZ Canada and its joint venture partners Mitsui & Co and Fiera Axium Infrastructure have commenced operations at the $50m Brockville Solar project in Ontario.

The 10MW solar project, developed under Ontario’s Feed-in Tariff Program, employs 42,000 panels and will generate clean energy to power around 1,700 local homes.

Ontario Power Authority will purchase the electricity generated at the solar plant, under a 20-year power purchase agreement.

Currently, GDF SUEZ Canada and partners Mitsui & Co and Fiera Axium Infrastructure operate 362MW of wind-powered generation facilities in the Canadian Maritimes and Ontario, and have another 300MW of wind generation projects under construction in Ontario and British Columbia.
