According to Reuters, Gazprom will sell gas, which it imports from Central Asia, to Ukraine at a price of $179.50 per 1,000 cubic meters (cbm) until the end of 2008. Gas imported into Ukraine from Russia will cost $315 per 1,000cbm, including the volumes supplied to it in January and February of 2008.
Reuters noted that it was not clear if the two sides have agreed to retain or remove intermediaries in the gas trade between them.
Gazprom will be able to directly supply Ukrainian industrial consumers with a minimum of 7.5 billion cbm of gas per year. According to Gazprom, the negotiations over the terms of the gas supplies for 2009 will continue.
