The liquefied natural gas (LNG) will be delivered to European terminals in which Gaz de France possesses reception capacity. The deliveries will begin in 2014 at the latest.

Gaz de France and Shell have enjoyed a long-term relationship since the signature in late 1960 of supply contracts with natural gas from deposits in the Netherlands and the Norwegian section of the North Sea.

Jean-Francois Cirelli, chairman and CEO of Gaz de France, said: This new agreement, signed with one of our most important partners, reinforces the diversification of our sources of supply, and further consolidates our position as Europe’s front-ranking importer of LNG.
