Gamesa will supply 33 turbines to Gunkul Engineering for the 67.5MW Sarahnlom wind farm in Thailand.
The Spanish firm will deliver 18 G114 2MW units and 15 G114 2.1MW machines on towers 153m high, which the company says will be the tallest installed in Asia.
The wind farm is being developed by PowerChina ZhongNan in Nakhon Ratchasima province in central Thailand. The turbines are scheduled to be supplied during the first quarter of 2017 and are expected to be commissioned in the second quarter.
The contract also includes operation and maintenance services for 10 years
Gamesa marketing director Juan Diego Díaz said: "In designing such tall towers, which are almost 30 metres taller than is usual for this model, and at a competitive cost, Gamesa's R&D team has achieved a major technological feat.
“On the one hand, we reduce the Cost of Energy of the complex by boosting total energy output, as the turbines will reach heights at which the wind blows harder. On the other hand, we are demonstrating once again our ability to respond to what the market needs thanks to the versatility of our turbines."
In 2015, Gamesa made its debut on the Thailand market by securing a 60MW order from the same customer. The company’s Asian presence amounts to over 7.76GW.
