Gamesa has secured awarded two contracts to supply Iberdrola with wind turbines for two projects in Mexico totaling 325.5MW.

The first contract requires Gamesa to install and commission 84 units of 2.625MW turbines at the Pier IV wind farm in Puebla state.

Turbine delivery is slated for early 2018 and the farm is scheduled to start operations in March 2019.

Under the second contract, Gamesa will deliver 50 units of 2.1MW turbines for the Santiago Eólico wind farm in central Guanajuato state.

The order will be delivered in the second half of 2018, with the wind farm expected to enter operations in April 2019,

Gamesa has installed about 1.9GW through 1,100 wind turbines in Mexico till now, since it made its entry in to the market in 1999.

On the other hand, Iberdrola is considered to be one of Mexico’s largest private electricity producer with an installed capacity of 5.8GW and about 4GW of projects underway. Once complete, it will increase Iberdrola’s capacity in the country to 10GW approximately by 2020.

In addition to the new orders, Gamesa has already delivered 360MW to several wind farms developed by Iberdrola in Mexico.
