Under the arrangement, Gamesa will supply, install and commission 35 G114-2.0MW turbines at the plant, being built in the departments of Florida and Treinta y Tres.

The company will manage civil works and electrical installations as well as operation and maintenance of the wind complex for its first 15 operational years.

The project is scheduled to begin commercial operations during the third quarter of 2016.

With the new contract, Gamesa will supply 170MW in the country where it has already has installed capacity of 150MW.

Consultancy BTM estimates Uruguay to have total installed capacity of 1,400MW in 2016.

In addition to Uruguay, Gamesa has installed more than 3,000MW in Brazil, Mexico, Honduras, Argentina and Costa Rica.
