Gamesa will install 33 units of its G97-2.0MW wind turbines at the Maan facility and the deliveries are scheduled during the first half of 2015.
The Maan wind farm is being developed for the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan under a turnkey arrangement with Elecnor. It is expected to be completed in early 2016.
The Maan facility is funded by the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development. It is the second wind project being built in Jordan.
As per the recent estimates by Make, installed wind capacity in Jordan is set to exceed 600MW by 2020, buoyed by the government’s stated policy of having renewable energy account for 10% of the nation’s energy mix by 2020.
