Spanish wind turbine manufacturer Gamesa has opened a new nacelle assembly factory in the city of Da'an in China's Jilin province.

The facility, which is the company’s fifth factory in China, will assemble 2MW nacelles for the company’s G9X platform and will initially have a capacity of 500MW annually.

Gamesa China chairman and CEO Jose Miranda said that the company continues to tap into the opportunities being thrown up by the fast-growing wind power markets such as China.

"Gamesa’s commitment to developing its platforms locally spells job creation, the nurturing of a local supplier network and contribution to the region’s social and economic development," Miranda said.

Gamesa already has four factories in the Tianjin province of China for assembly of nacelles, blades, generators and gearboxes, and is building another two plants in Tianjin and Inner Mongolia.
