Spanish wind turbine manufacturer Gamesa has inked a 13.6MW wind turbine supply contract with Kengen for Ngong II wind farm in Kenya.

As per the agreed terms, the company will supply 16 units of Gamesa G52 turbines, each with capacity of 850KW.

The Ngong II wind farm, which is being constructed by Iberdrola Ingeniería, is expected to generate electricity to power around 9,500 households annually.

Gamesa noted that the delivery and installation of the turbines will take place in the first quarter of 2014, while operations at the plant will begin in the second quarter of 2014.

Currently, the company has its foot print across Morocco, Tunis, Egypt and South Africa, with an installed capacity of around 850MW and it manages turbine maintenance on 419MW.
