The company has begun production of wind turbines at its new plant in the town of Camacari in the Brazilian state of Bahia.
With productive capacity of 400MW, the new facility assembles nacelles for 2MW wind turbines (G9X and G8X).
Gamesa said its strategy in Brazil is to cement its position among the main wind energy manufacturing groups, to increase penetration of local developer contracts and to build a meaningful sales, manufacturing and O&M network.
Gamesa chairman and CEO Jorge Calvet said the start-up of production in Bahia is the lynchpin of the company’s commitment to participating in the development of wind energy in Brazil.
