The wind turbine order has been placed by Desarrollos Eólicos Mexicanos de Oaxaca, a subsidiary of Renovalia for its project, which is to be built on Tehuantepec Isthmus.
As per the agreed terms, Gamesa will supply 69 units of its 2MW turbines. The commissioning of the project is slated for the third quarter of 2014.
Scope of the contract includes installation of the wind turbines, civil engineering and electrical work at the project, along with operation and maintenance services for a period of five years, with an option to extend for another five years.
To date, Gamesa has installed approximately 765MW in Mexico. The company has developed, built and commissioned around 170MW. It is building another 144MW and has a portfolio of 544MW at different stages of development.
