The proposed projects will be located in Smulgedon near Dungiven and Monnaboy on Loughtermore Mountain respectively and will take the total approved capacity of Gaelectric projects in Northern Ireland to 130MW.
Commenting on the developments Gaelectric CEO Brendan McGrath remarked that the planning that went into projects considerably de-risks the company’s onshore portfolio in Northern Ireland.
"We have now reached a stage of maturity in this end of our business where most of our projects are either at financial close, construction ready, or have consents in place, including firm grid offers.
"We are particularly pleased to be in position to offer our investors – current and future – a tangible renewable energy opportunity with clear visibility of projects and future opportunities," added McGrath.
The company is also developing the 13.8MW Carn Hill project outside Belfast, expected to be commissioned in 2013 besides the already comissioned Skrine project in the county of Roscommon with the objective of having a portfolio of 150 MW of wind generation by 2016.
