The company secured 25% of the total tenders with an output of 2,200GWh. The project is expected to be a hybrid solar-wind project and it will be built between the Northern and the Central part of Chile.
Once operational, the project can generate enough clean energy to be supplied to 224,000 households in the country and at the same time offset about 221,000 tons of CO2 from entering the atmosphere.
It marks FRV's first project in the Andean country. The company has secured 25% of 2,200GWh of total electricity sold in the tender.
FRV Wind Energy division Managing Director Andrea Fontana said: “Solar and wind technologies have many similarities and a high degree of maturity, which is allowing us to lead the transition to clean energy throughout the world.

This project is part of the company’s ambition to expand its presence in Latin America, which is considered as an attractive market for renewable energy.
FRV chief operating officer Borja Guinea said: “this new award shows FRV’s commitment with Chile and, in general with Latin America, as key geography for the sector, favoring the generation of clean and affordable energy which will contribute to the sustainable growth of the region.”
