The Crystal Rig II wind farm, which is powered by 60 Siemens 2.3MW turbines and is connected to the high voltage line running through the site, will generate enough energy to meet the power needs of over 100,000 homes.

Through this wind project, which is the result of a collaborative effort of different companies, including Natural Power, Siemens, Jones Bros, Morrison Construction and Balfour Beatty Engineering Services, Fred.Olsen Renewables will expand its wind portfolio to 315MW.

Fred.Olsen Renewables CEO Torger Lien said that Crystal Rig wind farm shows just how far the project has come from the 20 turbines which commenced operation in 2003, an additional 5 turbines in 2007, through to this latest phase which sees a further 60 turbines installed.
