Located close to the existing Rothes wind farm, the new wind farm utilizes 18 Siemens 2.3MW turbines and takes the company’s onshore operational portfolio to 430.5MW.

The new wind farm will produce enough power to meet the needs of more than 20,500 households. Renewable energy consultancy Natural Power has been selected to provide operational services on the site including 24/7 control room services, NP /ControlCentre.

Fred. Olsen Renewables CEO David Brunt said, "We are very pleased to confirm that Rothes II wind farm construction has now concluded successfully and the site has entered into operation.

"Rothes I and Rothes II provide a combined installed capacity of almost 100MW which alone represent 2.5% of Scotland’s total onshore wind capacity, helping to meet the country’s ambitious renewable energy targets." Brunt added.
