The contract from Adwen covers the transport and installation of 70 units of Adwen 5MW turbines, AD 5-135 at the wind farm that is located off the island of Rügen in the German exclusive economic zone in the Baltic Sea.
Adwen Wikinger project director Markus Dülks said: "By combining Adwen expertise with Fred Olsen know-how and proven track record regarding offshore wind turbines installation, we are reaching a new milestone for a successful realization of the Wikinger project. We look forward to a fruitful cooperation."
Constructed is scheduled to begin in early 2017, with planned completion in the second half of the same year.
Upon completion, the wind farm will generate clean electricity that will be enough to power around 350,000 households.
Fred. Olsen Windcarrier commercial manager Martin Degen said: "We are delighted to have won the Wikinger installation contract and look forward to working for Adwen once again in the delivery of this project.
"From previous experience they are a highly efficient and professional company to work with and we have established a strong relationship with their project teams".
The Wikinger project is Iberdrola’s first offshore windfarm in German waters. It will see around €1.4m in investment.
The design and construction of the offshore sub station is being carried out as an in-house project jointly with Iberdrola Engineering and Construction.
