The four hydro power projects are located in Karnataka, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
Commenting on the approvals, Minister of State for Power Jyotiraditya Scindia said that the four hydro electric projects, which have been accorded concurrence by the Central Electricity Authority (CEA), are awaiting approval in the Ministry of Environment & Forests (MoEF).
The projects include 500MW Hirong project in Arunachal Pradesh and 520MW Teesta Stage IV plant in Sikkim.
According to the Ministry of Power, two hydro projects with a total installed capacity of around 994MW have secured environmental clearances from the MoEF.
During the year 2012-13, energy shortage on national average basis was about 8.7%.
