In line with the reorganization plans, Fortum will start co-operation negotiations with personnel representatives over the reduction of a maximum of 55 jobs in Finland and 180 jobs in Sweden.
The changes being undertaken are part of a development program initiated in 2006 and aiming at creating more efficient and higher quality workflows. The increased utilization of online services and higher level of automation, for example in meter reading and electronic invoicing, have changed the internal ways of working.
The planned reorganization is expected to cover the electricity retail customer service operations as well as support functions related to corporate financial services. These service functions will be relocated closer to the business units’ other operations.
The centralization does not include local network related operational tasks, such as network installation work. The implementation of the changes under negotiation are planned to be executed by the end of 2009.
The co-operation negotiations with personnel representatives will start on September 15, 2008, and aim to find alternative solutions for as many employees as possible.
