International technology group Andritz has been selected by Swedish energy company Fortum Värme to supply a 330MW circulating fluidized bed boiler.

Andritz will also supply Fortum, a flue gas cleaning plant, as well as the electrical and control systems.

The boiler will be installed at the new Värtaverket combined heat and power plant in Stockholm and will replace the usage of fossil fuels in favor of eco-friendly biomass.

Once employed and operational the biomass boiler plant will increase the proportion of renewable fuels usage by the plant to 70%.

The operations at the plant will commence in the third quarter of 2015 and will meet the needs of 190,000 households in the city of Stockholm.
