Fortum will begin annual refueling and maintenance outage of Unit 1 at the Loviisa nuclear power plant (NPP) on 18 August 2013.

Loviisa power plant’s maintenance unit manager Pertti Salonen said that besides normal periodic maintenance tasks and refueling, one engine of the Loviisa 1 emergency diesel generator will be replaced with a new one.

In addition, the 6kV main switch at the switch plant and the 400kV switch at the switch field will be replaced.

After the maintenance of Unit 1, Unit 2 will be serviced and the whole procedure is expected to be completed by September 2013.

At Unit 2, the most significant task besides the normal periodic maintenance and refueling is the 400kV switch replacements at the switch field.

Fingrid Oyj, the Finnish transmission system operator, will be in charge of the 400kV switch replacement for both units at the plant.
