Fortum has entered into an agreement with Maintpartner to assign it a three-year operation and maintenance of Fortum’s hydropower plants in the Oulujoki and Imatra regions of Finland.

As per the agreement, the local operation and maintenance personnel of Fortum’s hydropower plants numbering 54 from the Oulujoki and Imatra regions will transfer to Maintpartner as existing employees, with effect from 1 December 2013.

At the same time, some Fortum employees, who will manage hydropower assets, on local stakeholder relations and on hydropower investment projects, will be present locally at the power plants.

Fortum Renewable Energy vice-president Risto Andsten said hydropower was a core business for Fortum.

"This is why we wanted a partner specialising in the daily maintenance of our plants," said Andsten.

Maintpartner deputy managing director Juha Lepikko said, "The agreement signed with Fortum is a significant step for Maintpartner as we expand in local operation and maintenance of hydropower plants as well as in project and installation services, especially in the Nordic countries."
