Fort Collins Utilities has unveiled a new Level 3/DC quick charge electric vehicle (EV) charging station in the US state of Colorado, which is the first of its time in the state.

The new EV charging station employs advanced direct current quick charging equipment powered by 480-volt high-power electric service.

Fort Collins noted that the Level 3/DC quick chargers only support vehicles equipped with the CHAdeMo standard.

Currently, the state has two charging sites, including Fort Collins Museum of Discovery that has Level 2 and Level 3 / DC quick charger, and Civic Center Parking Structure with Level 2 charging station.

Earlier in February 2013, Fort Collins formed a partnership with the Electrification Coalition, City of Loveland and Colorado State University to establish Drive Electric Northern Colorado.
