US-based technology solutions provider for energy and other industries, FMC Technologies, has secured a $500m contract from Brazil's national oil company Petrobras to supply subsea trees.

Petrobras will use the subsea trees for its pre-salt fields located offshore Brazil.

Under the contract, FMC will supply 49 subsea trees, tooling, and associated subsea controls to Petrobras.

The trees are scheduled to be installed in multiple pre-salt fields for both production and injection wells.

FMC Technologies Subsea Technologies senior vice president Tore Halvorsen said the company has secured the second order for subsea trees under the contract signed in 2012.

"FMC Technologies has been working with Petrobras for more than 30 years and we are pleased to support them in the continued development of their pre-salt fields," Halvorsen added.

FMC will design and manufacture the subsea trees and equipments at its facilities in Brazil.

The contract value represents the call-off of the remaining value of the $1.5bn agreement announced in March 2012.
