FLENDER POWER TRANSMISSION has given a Motox gear unit to an 18th century water mill in England that has been restored to grind flour in its original condition.

The volunteers renovating Redbournbury water mill, near St Albans, contacted Flender when they discovered that years of overabstraction had depleted the millstream so that it was no longer sufficient to run the water wheel on its own. They obtained and restored a 1935 Crossley oil engine to run the mill when the river was low. The gear unit has been positioned with the motor inside the mill, while the engine outside the mill drives the generator.
