Privatisation

Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) identified five power plants for divestment under its restructuring programme: Paka, Pasir Gudang, Prai, Connaught Bridge and Serdang. These are in addition to the Tanjung Kling power plant in Malacca, which is being sold to Powertek, and the Sultan Salahuddin power plant in Kapar, in which an IPP will buy a 40 per cent stake. TNB said it would only consider selling off its non-hydro power stations.
