Located in the Town of Sheffield in the Northeast Kingdom, the wind farm includes 16 units of Clipper Liberty 2.5MW turbine.
The facility will generate enough renewable electricity to power approximately 15,000 Vermont homes.
Electricity generated by the project will be sold to three Vermont utilities including the Burlington Electric Department, the Vermont Electric Cooperative, and the Washington Electric Cooperative.
Vermont governor Peter Shumlin said it is critical for the state to diversify its supply of energy to develop more sustainable sources of power, and projects such as the Sheffield Wind project represent a path for a more sustainable and secure energy future.
